When a child goes missing, time is critical. Telecommunicators must ask complete questions to get as much information about the missing child and suspect. This information could be the determining factor in the child's safe return.
The FBI indicated over 400,000 children were reported missing on NCIC in 2018.
While most of these children will return home, thousands end up as victims of human trafficking.
Telecommunicators should be knowledgeable in NCIC entries, laws regarding missing children, and protocol for issuing AMBER Alerts.
