Course Goal

This course will cover bombs and explosive devices, including suspcious packages, found devices, and bomb threats. This course will also cover the recent Austin, Texas bombings.

Bombs or explosive devices may be an indication of a bigger crime, such as a terrorist attack or an active assailant incident. 

Responding appropriately to calls involving bombs or explosive devices will ensure the caller's, bystander's, and responder's safety. 

Introduction

In 2018, the city of Austin, Texas was inundated with calls regarding suspicious packages after a series of bombs exploded in the city. Telecommunicators were responsible for ensuring proper questions and instructions were given to callers, as it was unknown when the next bomb would go off.

This course will cover calls related to bombs and explosive devices, focusing on questions and instructions for callers.
