Active Assailant for Telecommunicators

Course Goal

To prepare Telecommunicators for processing an active assailant call.

Active assailant calls can happen anywhere. During these incidents, the Telecommunicator will be overwhelmed. It is important the Telecommunicator has training in active assailant incidents, before they receive the call. 

It's no longer the matter of if, but when your agency will be affected by an active assailant incident. 

 
 

Introduction

This course will discuss:

  • the evolution of active assailant training 
  • the definitions associated with active assailant incidents
  • recent FBI studies
  • the history of active assailant incidents
  • mentality and characteristics of an active assailant
  • warning signs of an active assailant
  • the phases of an active assailant
  • questions to ask callers
  • instructions to give callers
  • the Telecommunicator's responsibilities in an active assailant incident
  • responsibilities of the radio operator during an active assailant incident 
  • active assailant incidents at public safety locations
  • the impact of active assailant incidents


Students will have the ability to pause and resume the course as needed. Videos/audios can be paused, and all videos/audios include a written transcript. 

Students will receive a certificate of completion after successfully passing the final exam with a score of 75% or higher. 

This is a full Active Assailant course.
