Course Goal

To explain the risks a domestic violence victim faces when leaving an abusive relationship.

This course will discuss using empathy in domestic violence calls. The course will cover the five areas of risk a victim must consider before leaving a domestic violence situation. Students will learn the formula for empathetic listening.

Introduction

It is frustrating to take repeat calls of domestic violence. Having an understanding of why the victim stays in this situation can help the Telecommunicator develop empathy when taking these calls.
